Pre-Cancerous . . .

So it goes, I had an annoying "spot" on my right forearm that started out as just a little rough spot and then grew into a somewhat "mole" looking thing, but it was not brown or black, it was like a dark pink and itched all the time and stayed "angry looking" as Ms. Polly would say. I made an appointment to see a dermatologist to have it checked out, I figured he would think I was just a crazy woman thinking I had some disease or something and it would be nothing but my imagination (what little I have) toying with me. Dr. Altick comes in, looks at it and says "it's pre-cancerous and I'm going to remove it." Okay!! The numbing shot didn't hurt, I didn't even feel a stick or anything. I watched him slice my pre-cancerous spot off and then he scraped it (I started to holler just to see what he would say, but I chickened out). I was told to clean it with peroxide and put antibiotic ointment on it. That was it - I worried for months about this "spot" and that was it. The shot didn't hurt, the cutting didn't hurt, nothing, no stitches, no big bandage, no sling for my arm - just clean it with peroxide and use antibiotic ointment on it. I got a bandaid!! I told the doctor I would get absolutely no sympathy for a bandaid. This fabulous opportunity was for the low price of $135.00, what a bargain!!

My appointment was on Friday, February 12, 2010 and Dr. Altick's office called me on Monday, February 15, 2010, to let me know that they already had the lab results back from my "spot" and that it was sure enough pre-cancerous just like he had already determined. They said nothing else to do, just to watch it and if it starts growing back, to come see them again.

Wish I would have taken pictures of my experience, but I didn't, so I can't share it with you in color. Sorry!!

Love, Bella
